Paros: A Greek Island You Can’t Miss
A Weekend in Paros
Paros has long been a favourite among travellers moving through the Cyclades, but in 2025 it was named Best Island in the World by Travel + Leisure. Spend a weekend here and you’ll see why - calm beaches, lively villages and that Greek island ease that makes time slow down.
July to September is the sweet spot. The water is warm, ferries run often and days stretch long enough to fit everything in - swims, siestas and sunset dinners.
Friday - Arrival and First Swim
Most ferries arrive into Parikia, the island’s main port. Drop your bags, grab a freddo espresso and start your trip with a swim at Livadia Beach, ten minutes from town. It’s an easy first stop - calm, wide and shaded by tamarisk trees.
Later, wander Parikia’s old town until you reach Panagia Ekatontapiliani, one of Greece’s oldest churches. As evening falls, head north to Naoussa, the island’s harbour town. Have dinner at Yemeni Wine Restaurant, where grilled octopus and fava pair with a glass of local rosé.
End the day by the harbour lights. Lay out your Santorini Pastel towel on the stone edge, watch the boats sway and let the light fade from the water.
Saturday - The Heart of Paros
Start early in Naoussa with Greek coffee and a warm bougatsa. The harbour is quiet at this hour and it’s the best time to see fishermen bring in the morning catch.
Then head to Kolymbithres Beach, known for its smooth rock formations and turquoise coves. Arrive before 10am to find your own flat rock ledge - they fill fast. The water is shallow and clear, ideal for long swims between the sculpted stones. Bring your Santorini Bold towel; its deep tones fit the silver-grey rock.
By midday, drive inland to Lefkes, a mountain village with white alleys and wide views. Stop for lunch at Klarinos Taverna - order mastelo lamb, fava and a carafe of local wine. Spend the afternoon wandering the quiet lanes or resting under the olive trees.
Return to the coast for golden hour in Piso Livadi. The beach is calm, the tavernas spill onto the sand and the evening light turns the sea to glass.
Sunday - Slow Living by the Sea
Sundays in Paros move at half speed. Begin with a swim at Faragas Beach, where the rocks curve around a sheltered bay. The bar serves light breakfasts - fruit, yoghurt and espresso by the sea.
Before your ferry, stop back in Naoussa for lunch at Soso, a courtyard restaurant known for simple seafood meze. Then take one last walk through the white lanes lined with pink bougainvillea.
Pack light, bring your Lost Sol and let Paros remind you how good the slow rhythm of island life can be.
